Today, as we see all around us there are so many health issues. one major health issue related to our immune system that depends upon the food that we consume, methods of food preparation that we use, the environment where we live, food adulterations existing in our food sometimes all of these factors are not good for our health, it slows up immune response result give on to disease.

To get the better of all these diseases and to boost up the immune response there is require to our body some special probiotic drink that super drinks that help to enhance the immune response the name of this drink are known as kefir drink.

Kefir is a fermented milk drink made up of kefir grainsKefir grains are a specific mesophilic symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. Due to fermentation, it is slightly carbonated and fizzy. The color of the Kefir grain is white or yellow. Kefir drink is tangy, creamy as a smoothie, tart, slightly acidic, and a little bit similar to thinner yogurt in taste. It is a popular drink in Europe and Asia by recently become popular in the United States due to its probiotic properties. The presence of Lactobacillus kefiri and carbohydrate kefiran shows its probiotic property. Nutritional point of view, kefir grains consist of protein, fat, carbohydrates, sugar, calcium, vitamin A, Magnesium, Phosphorus, vitamin K2, and vitamin D.



How to make kefir Drink ?

Traditionally, the kefir drink was prepared in a bag that is made up of goatskin. This bag was hanged on the door of the home. The bag was filled with milk ( milk of cow, goat, and sheep )and kefir grains. Who was passing through this bag knocked it during that process mixing of milk with kefir grains occurred and further fermentation takes place and kefir drink was made.

Now, kefir drink is available in the market. We can also be prepared this super drink in our home with the help of activated kefir grains.

The Recipe to Activate Kefir Grains Is

Ingredients

  • Activated kefir grains ( available in the market)
  • 3 cups Cool water
  • 1/2 cup Hot water ( Avoid from Fluoride, chloride, altered pH, restricted water)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar ( cane sugar, organic White, or unprocessed sugar)

Required

Quartz -Size glass jar, Thermometer, and cover.

Instructions step by step

  1. Firstly, pour 1/2 cup of sugar into the quartz-size glass jar.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of hot water.
  3. Swirl the jar for a few minutes to dissolve the sugar properly.
  4. Then further add 3 cups of cool water.
  5. Check the temperature regularly with the help of a thermometer, it should be at room temperature( 68–85 degrees Fahrenheit).
  6. Now, add activated Kefir grains.
  7. cover the glass jar with a cloth or lid to prevent air.
  8. Allow culture to stand at temperature 68 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit for 24 to 48 hours.
  9. Strain up the Kefir grains and place them in new sugar water for the next batch.
  10. After strain, Kefir water is ready with a cloudy appearance with a pleasant, and sweet taste.

There are three types of kefir drink

  • Milk kefir
  • Water kefir
  • Coconut Kefir

Milk Kefir

Milk kefir is a fermented dairy product. It is cultured from a Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast i.e SCOBY. Milk Kefir is the Fermentation of milk and kefir grains. Milk kefir is two types -Cow Milk Kefir and Goat Milk Kefir depends upon the milk that is used for fermentation.

Water Kefir

Water kefir drink is a dairy-free and gluten-free probiotic drink. Water kefir drink is fermentation between water and kefir grains. Seasonal fruits can be added to give specific flavors. we can use strawberries, concord grapes, plum, apple, and pears to make water kefir tastier. Ginger can also be used for a spicy flavor.

Coconut Kefir

Coconut water rich in nutrition contain phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbs, and potassium. It is a gluten-free and lactose-free delicious drink made by fermentation of coconut water with kefir grains. This is a smarter combination of fermentation.

Good news!! for wheat allergic persons and Lactose intolerance person ,kefir drink is more beneficial for these persons because kefir grain is not a grain it is a combo of bacteria and yeast and less in lactic acid that is tolerable to lactose intolerance person.
